Neck pain syndrome is a frequent and recurrent disorder, characterized by painful episodes over many years or even throughout life. For some patients, it may be a single episode of mere discomfort, but for many others, it affects their work or leisure activities. For still others, especially those who have suffered a traumatic injury such as a car accident, the onset of cervical disorders can disrupt their quality of life and work for the future.
When treatment is recommended by a therapist, conservative management is the first line of defense. Considering the habitual recurrence that characterizes benign cervical disorders or, on the contrary, those that present significant pain, practitioners and researchers must develop future strategies for the prevention and management of subjects, and empower patients so as to reduce the incidence, recurrence, and overall consequences caused by neck pain.
