Abstract

Context: Although its prevalence is high, proximal hamstring tendinopathy is poorly documented compared with acute hamstring injuries (hamstring injuries account for 12 to 29% of all injuries in athletes, and around 12% of these involve the proximal attachment). This condition frequently affects sporting populations, especially those who take part in sports involving sprinting, jumping, or sudden movements, such as track and field, long-distance running, or team sports. It also affects non-sporting populations (Goom et al., 2016). The management of this condition is complicated by the persistence of symptoms and the lack of evidence to guide management.

Module objectives: Providing an in-depth understanding of proximal hamstring tendinopathy, from its origin to its management and prevention.
