Description
Stand at the bottom of an uphill trail with a soft surface, dirt or loose gravel, with your feet slightly staggered and your torso leaning forward. Perform a short, intense uphill acceleration, pushing powerfully into the ground at each foot strike, with a full extension of the hip and knee of your push-off leg. The loose ground slips and absorbs part of the push: slightly shorten your stride, increase your cadence, and stay on your forefoot to keep your grip. Keep your trunk braced, your torso leaning forward, and your gaze a few yards ahead of you to anticipate the unevenness of the terrain. Perform the distance and number of repetitions indicated by your physical therapist, respecting the recovery times between sprints.
