Description

Wrap a heavy elastic band around a bar or post at knee height and slide the loops just behind the knees. Step back so the bands exert strong tension on the legs. Feet should be flat on the floor with pressure evenly distributed over the entire surface of the foot. The exercise starts by pushing the hips back into a squat position, keeping the torso straight. The shins should be vertical as the hips move back. The knees are pulled back into the bands to help keep the shins vertical and prevent falling. Once the thighs are parallel to the ground and the spine is neutral, squeeze the quadriceps by pressing into the ground to stand up. Hold the position for the time recommended by your physical therapist.
